Transition - back to my roots!

Picture
Well, maybe not THIS far back!  This photo of younger sister Janet and me was taken near Clifton Springs, New York, where I was raised.  It is likely that the cute dresses that we were wearing were made by our mother, who's sewing machine lulled us to sleep some nights.

At any rate, I learned to garden and sew at an early age.  I still garden, but not nearly as productively as Mom did - we had a vegetable garden that fed our family of 8 through most of the winter!  I now focus on ornamental gardening, with some herb gardening for fun.  And, I help out at some community gardens, especially the Ravenwood/Thurston Road Garden in the 19th Ward.

For more than twenty years, I have had the opportunity and privilege to work in the Greater Rochester Community, with volunteer and employed positions that covered everything from small neighborhoods to regional efforts to statewide coalition building.

I'm known as a committed advocate for the people of this community, and knowledgeable on areas of public policy, housing and land use issues, and public safety.

From volunteering for my children's school activities to serving on statewide boards to delivering Meals on Wheels, I have dedicated my life and career to improving the quality of life for the residents of the city of Rochester and Monroe County.
